A Terrible Garden Blogger

I’m a terrible garden blogger. A good blog (the word comes from the words “web log”) is an account of happenings or thoughts of the person writing the blog. I ordinarily sit down once a week and write an article for my garden blog, rather than an actual blog. I am more comfortable writing on a topic and presenting it in a “teacherly” manner. I’m going to work on changing that.

My favorite blog, and one I go to regularly, is Chickens on the Porch. Callie, the author, makes an entry every day about the happenings in her life. She does research on topics such as: cooking on a wood stove, building nest boxes, sewing quilts, the weather. She provides lots of links where you can find information. I’ve learned a lot from following the links in her post.

I keep saying that I’m going to try to make more entries into my garden blog (notice I didn’t say daily). I’m going to be more spontaneous. I think if I can accomplish this, my readers may find this silly garden blog more interesting to read and I’ll find it more fun to write. So……………………….

I’ve got some blooming vines. This pretty coral passion vine has to be watched or it grows right up into the oak trees growing near the fence. I take cuttings from it each year and have successfully propagate new plants from it. It loves this coastal weather but I’m not sure how it would do in a freeze. Not too well, I’m sure. After I get back from the garden club meeting this morning, I’m going to go out and get some cuttings of that sprawling vine before it gets too out of hand.
